5 Tips for Making the Most of Your Jersey Shore Vacation

When you want a relaxing ocean getaway at one of the world’s most iconic destinations, the Jersey Shore is the way to go. But as with all vacations, planning ahead is the key to making sure your trip is restful instead of stressful. Plan your successful summer trip with these tips for making the most of your Jersey Shore vacation.

Learn the Beach Badge Rules

If you visit the Jersey Shore, you’re going to want to spend time at the beach. And if you want to spend time at the beach, you’re going to need a beach badge. These passes are available at daily, weekly, and seasonal rates. Beach badges are necessary if you want to access most of New Jersey’s beachfront, and you need a separate badge for each beach you visit. For example, if your rental home is in Brigantine but you also plan on spending time at Margate, you’ll need a beach badge for both locations. Be sure to check out the specific rules and badge rates for Ventnor, Avalon, Stone Harbor, Long Beach Island, or wherever else you’re staying on the shore.

Alternatively, plan your trip so that you can hit the beach outside of peak hours—badges are only necessary between Memorial Day and Labor Day. You also don’t need a badge if you visit before nine in the morning or after five in the afternoon. During the day, though, badge checkers will walk around to make sure you have your beach badge.

Explore Beyond the Shore

The beach and the boardwalks are great, but they aren’t the only things that draw people to the Jersey Shore. If you have the time, venture out to discover New Jersey’s other iconic attractions, including the state’s 18 historic lighthouses and Lucy the Elephant, a two-story pachyderm that doubles as a National Historic Landmark.

Book Your Rental Early

Having a vacation rental is the best way to experience the Jersey Shore. You have more space and more freedom to spread out, hang out, and enjoy your vacation your way. Unfortunately, Jersey Shore rentals fill up fast. If you want a great place for an equally great price, make sure you book your rental as quickly as possible.

Pro-Tip

Not finding what you’re looking for? Popular rental platforms like Airbnb or Vrbo are great, but only local realtors know the ins and outs of the area. Work with a local agent to find the best rentals available.

Don’t Forget Equipment Rentals

Once you book your vacation home, it’s important to make a list of all the gear you’ll need to make the most of your Jersey Shore vacation. Don’t worry about stuffing linens, beach towels, and other gear into your luggage. Instead, book your beach equipment rental and get everything you need for a relaxing day on the shore delivered directly to your vacation home.

Take Time To Soak Up the Shore

The Jersey Shore is bursting with incredible views, delicious eats, and unforgettable attractions. Just remember to take the time to enjoy it all while you’re here. If you rush from one destination to the next, you’ll end up needing another vacation as soon as you get home. Slow down, be present, and give yourself time to soak up all the fun and beauty that New Jersey has to offer.
